Bodhicitta aspirations shared by Dilgo Khyentse

At all times, we should repeatedly make auspicious wishes for the benefit of all sentient beings.

When we sleep, we should think, “May all sentient beings attain ultimate enlightenment.”

When we wake, we should think, “May all sentient beings awaken to the state of enlightenment.”

When we get out of bed, we should think, “May all sentient beings attain Buddhahood.”

When we dress, we should think, “May all sentient beings know shame and be humble.”

When we light a fire, we should think, “May all sentient beings burn away the fuel of delusions.”

When we eat, we should think, “May all sentient beings eat the food of concentration.”

When we open a door, let us think: “May all beings open the gates to the city of liberation.”

When closing the gates, let us think, “May all beings close the gates to the three lower realms.”

When stepping outside, let us think, “May I walk the path that liberates all beings.”

When going uphill, let us think, “May I lead all beings to the three higher realms.”

When going downhill, let us think, “May I go to the three lower realms to liberate beings.”

When we see happiness, let us think, “May all beings attain the happiness of Buddhahood.”

When we see suffering, let us think, “May the suffering of all beings cease.”
