A spiritual friend is one who teaches us to recognize the truths of existence—that the Law of Causality is inescapable, that all unenlightened existence is of the nature of suffering, that we are trapped in cyclic existence. A Vajra Guru is one who guides us to realization of our original nature, to liberation, to Nirvana.
