Ah, to my own essence, the Guru, free of dualistic
conceptuality and clinging I go for refuge.
54 Pearls: 12 – Self-Compassion
Have pity on yourself. Show yourself compassion. Don’t forget the hardships and suffering you’ve experienced in this life. From the moment of your painful birth up to the present where you find yourself in a state of suffering, what have you been through? Just how has your life been? What great happiness do you have to show for all that you’ve been through? Think about how many years you have left to live. You owe yourself a chance at achieving liberation from your suffering. So devote yourself wholeheartedly to your practice. That is, after all, the only way you can expect to attain Buddhahood.
