(Tibetan calendar: the 1st to 15th of the first month):- Dates: Saturday, 10th February – Saturday, 24th February 2024.
Losar (Tibetan New Year) falls on 10th February 2024, starting the year of the wood dragon. Followed by the fifteen days of miracles, it is a very special and auspicious time of the year. It commemorates when Shakyamuni Buddha performed a different miracle each day to inspire faith & devotion in the Buddha Dharma. It culminates on Chotrul Duchen, which falls on 24th February 2024, the fifteenth day of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
During these fifteen days of miracles (10 February – 24 February 2024), all karmic results—good and bad—are considered to be multiplied by millions.
Some advice for this time:
- Take the 8 Mahayana Precepts daily
- Prostrations to and or Read the sutra of great liberation every day
- Keep the good heart all day!
- Offer lights/lamps daily
- Recite “King of Prayers” daily and Guru Rinpoche’s 7 line prayer
As Jigmé Lingpa said:
Through the magical power of your miracles in Shravasti,
You rendered speechless the tirthika teachers who,
With all their analysis and research,
drunk on the wine of indulgence,
had become oppressive in the extreme
In the final contest they were humbled,
their prestige all drained away,
As you triumphed through ‘the four bases of miraculous powers’.
