Diligence

Diligence

Diligence includes sustainable effort, the exertion with which we apply the Dharma in our lives, the joyful commitment to a wholesomeness which cannot be satiated.

Now that we have generated the aspiration to attain liberation, regardless of the hardships that may arise, we should, through tireless effort, make best use of our precious human body by engaging in wholesome deeds that bring about benefits and liberation for both ourselves and others. Such a noble intention requires unremitting diligence, otherwise ordinary beings will only fall prey to their habitual tendencies, such as lethargy and excitement, and waste this precious human life in idleness.
