H.H. Lama Achuk

H. H. Jamyang Lungdok Gyaltsen, fondly referred to as Lama Achuk (Also known as Khenpo Achuck Brioche , Achiu Kamabu or Lama A-chos) is an incarnation of the great terton Rigdzin Longsal Nyingpo (1625-1682) of Kathok Monastery. Together with HH Jigmé Phuntsok (1933 – 2004) of Larung Gar, HH Lama Achuk were major contributors to re-establishing the study and practice of Buddhism in eastern Tibet. He was born in 1927 in Trom in Eastern Tibet and spent 43 years caring for and practising under the guidance of his root master, HH Tulku Arik Rinpoche. He used to say that this is where his greatest merit was attained. HH Lama Achuk realised the phenomenon known as rainbow body.

Yachen Gar:
HH Lama Achuk had a great sense of humour and when you visited Yachen Gar, come sun, rain or snow there would often be thousands of monastics in their red robes sitting on the Tibetan prairies listening to his profound teachings. According to the request of HH Tulku Arik, in 1985, Lama Rinpoche established Yachen Gar (Yachen Orgyen Meditation Monastery) in Changtai District, Palgyu County of East Tibet, in an isolated valley near Ganzi (Kandze), with only 6 students at the time. It is named “ Meditation Monastery” as it concentrates on practice. In his latter years, Yachen Gar attracted practitioners from all around China and Tibet and was home to nearly 10,000 monastics, and some lay practitioners, as a testament to his incredible and unique ability in guiding students.
