Ah, to my own essence, the Guru, free of dualistic
conceptuality and clinging I go for refuge.
54 Pearls: 44 – Let go of all the things
Nothing truly belongs to us. What we think we “own,” we are really only using temporarily. Sooner or later, every sentient being will die. Therefore, sooner rather than later, let go of your grasping mind. That way when you die you will be able to let go of all the things of this life, and that will bring you happiness. If your heart is constantly festering with thoughts like, “I must do such-and-such if it’s the last thing I do,” you’ll never be happy. And the more intense your attachment, the worse your temperament will get. What’s the one thing you gain from tearing yourself up inside because you can’t get what you want? A nasty disposition.
