54 Pearls: 13 – Precious Life
Human life is transient. You may have to give up your precious human life tomorrow, next month, next year…In your next life, how easy will it be to be blessed with another human body, another chance to practice Buddhism, another virtuous guru, another chance to be liberated from the agony of samsara? After realizing how immensely fortunate you have been to obtain your present auspicious human life, you should seriously consider whether you can afford to squander this opportunity. Then ask yourself what you can do to prevent yourself from wasting your life. How can you endow your days with the most meaning and value? The power to attain liberation in this lifetime lies within your own hands. Continually remind yourself of this fact.
